About
The research is clear: the best way to figure out how to maximize learning and support the well-being of students in the classroom is to ask them.
The Student Voice Project aims to give a voice to every student and capture the largest number of student voices in the world around:
- How students learn best
- How students feel about their learning
- How student well-being and SEL relates to classroom engagement and learning
- Which teaching strategies best support and accelerate student learning
The Research
When we support students, educators, and families in elevating student voice, we amplify the power and impact of social emotional learning in the pursuit of academic achievement and productive citizenship.
Students who are able to make connections between their learning or learning environment and their emotional well-being are better positioned to reduce their isolation, increase their engagement, collaborate with their peers, self-evaluate and accelerate their achievement.

How It Works
- Register to join the Student Voice Project as either a school, district, class or parent.
- Choose one day for all of the students in your organization ages 7 and up to complete our free, 5-minute Student Voice check-in.
- Receive a free, easy-to-understand dashboard summarizing key insights about student learning and well-being from your organization.
- Review and compare your data to other student voice data captured from hundreds of thousands of classrooms around the world.

The TrueNorth Student Voice App is the simplest way for educators to collect student voice around what their students are learning and how their students are feeling.
o-designed in partnership with students, TrueNorth enables teachers to collect feedback from every student in their classroom in five minutes or less.
With each TrueNorth check-in, students can share with their teacher:
- Key insights into what they are learning;
- Feedback on their progress and next steps;
- The teaching strategies that help them most; and
- Their state of well-being.

Our check-ins are evidence-based and designed by students for students to: empower student voice, build student confidence, improve student engagement, and maximize student learning. The interactive TrueNorth Student Voice App equips students with the tools they need to:
- Reflect on their learning
- Reflect on how they are feeling about their learning
- Evaluate their work
- Identify next steps or areas of improvement
- Identify how they learn best
- Take greater ownership over their learning
- Make connections between their learning or learning environment and their emotional well-being
- Send a confidential note directly to their teacher if they require additional emotional support
Personalize Learning to Accelerate Student Growth
Differentiate instruction and accelerate student growth by identifying individual student learning needs and the support each student requires to move their learning forward. Through collecting and analyzing the student data provided through the TrueNorth Student Voice App, teachers can:
- Understand and leverage the instructional strategies that have the greatest impact on student learning
- Design interventions and scaffold lessons based on student feedback
- Identify how students are feeling as well as their level of engagement with each learning experience

- Changes in tier two and tier three vocabulary usage by students over time
