Dr. Angela M. Ward, is a wife and mother of 2 boys. Profiled in Education Week Magazine as a 2019 Leader to Learn From, Teaching Tolerance Magazine, Austin Woman’s Magazine and recipient of the Austin Area Urban League’s 2019 Founder’s Award. Dr. Ward manages the Austin Independent School District (AISD) focus on Cultural Proficiency & Inclusiveness and is motivated to study implications of the multiple relationships of education to culture, power, and society. In this role, she conducts research and collaborates to offer professional learning opportunities to implement a district-wide level of awareness and attention to issues of bias, bigotry, prejudice, discrimination and racism to eliminate dis-proportionality and disparities across the system. She directs, organizes and establishes systems and protocols for district-wide Restorative Practices and Culture and Climate innovation. Prior to her current role as a district administrator, Dr. Ward served as a campus administrator, teacher leader and classroom teacher. She serves as a liaison to the Central Texas Community advocating for the Anti Racist Education and safe, welcoming and inclusive development of identity for all students, particularly those who identify with marginalized and adversely impacted groups.
